Questionable Motherhood

21Sep18

A few days ago, I was out searching for GG. He usually comes in for breakfast in the mornings, and by noon he was nowhere to be seen. He had left yesterday, been out all night, and hadn't come in for breakfast. Needless to say I was worried.

Instead of finding GG, I found one of Sausage's kittens stuck in a tree. It was letting out a small: mew, mew, mew. I wasn't able to help it down. After I couldn't find GG, I happened upon Sausage and I went back to the tree and showed her who was up there. The baby mewed at her, and she sort meow-mew up at him. I don't know if she was telling him to get down, or telling him how to get down, but she was highly interested in his activity.

Lately, Black Scrap, the father of the kittens has been hanging around wanting breakfast. We suspect he's the father because two of the kittens look exactly like him. We hope they don't take up his bad behavior. I have to feed him otherwise he would either attack the other cats or take their food away. He doesn't look very healthy and his eyes have been scratched a few times. He sort of pants like a dog.

What's more, Loper has been hanging around the kittens. It is almost like she is helping Sausage take care of her babies, who are getting big. Sausage has been hanging out at the apartment building to the right of ours. That's where Sausage emerged from this morning. No kittens. I saw the kittens hanging over by the apartment to the left of ours with Loper.

It's almost like she adopted Sausage's babies. I'll keep an eye out for further developments.

  1. I think sausage has weaned her kittens, and wants them to make their own life! Did you find GG?
