Pecking Order

2July18

I never realized there was a cat pecking order, I thought it was with chickens and in office situations -- cats too. I remember why I never take the trash out in the afternoons. Yesterday afternoon when I took out the trash I was bombarded, first by Sausage and then by everyone else. Sausage followed me to the dumpster crying the whole time, saying his tummy was on empty it hurt really bad.

The others were like I'm hungry too. I went back up to fetch some food. Fluffy followed but she hasn't been coming inside. I sort of wonder if GG gave her a major talking to and that's why she's not coming inside. I went back down with the food and fed Sausage, but Patch took his food.  But Mask said she was first and took Patch's food. I fed Patch, and went further away to feed Sausage.

This morning the same thing. Fluffy came upstairs, but not inside. When I went down she went down. Patch was on the lower flight of stairs. Fluffy swiped at him and he waited around the corner to swipe at her. Then she pounced on him.

Sausage was waiting, claiming to be the hungriest of them all. I put some food down for Sausage and Fluffy took it. Then the brats and Sausage led me around the corner where I usually feed them. I put some food down for Sausage and Patch took it. Then Mask took it. I put some food down for Patch and Cinnamon appeared. I gave him some food and then Sausage. I give Sausage two handfuls because that cat has me convinced he only eats when I feed him.

Well, I turned around and another stray cat had taken Patch's breakfast. So I fed Patch in another spot. Sausage is at the bottom of the pecking order and Patch is one rung above him. Fluffy and GG are at the top. Bag stays out of it because he can hunt and he doesn't need cheap catfood to survive.
