Barefoot

7July18

Today is Saturday, the day I get to make up sleep from the rest of the week. I woke up about 3am and didn't fall back asleep until after 4am, which is kind of the norm for me, but instead of getting out of bed about 6 or 7 I slept until 8:30ish when David woke me up by locking GG in the bedroom. GG used to like sleeping on my pillow, but the guy can't stand AC, so he kept meowing until David came back in and released him.

He put GG in the bedroom because he had left the door open and the other regulars trotted upstairs for some breakfast. That would be: Fluffy, Mask, and Patch. When GG was released from the bedroom, he was a good boy and flopped on his spot on the coffee table.

I had a leftover sardine from yesterday and fed it to the other three, except Patch didn't eat hers. Anyway there's a mess out in the hall where cat food is strewn all over the floor, but if we wait an hour or so, the cats will take care of it and we won't have to sweep it up.

Sausage doesn't know to come up here. While Fluffy was eating, GG's food, I grabbed a back and went down to feed Sausage. I forgot to put on my shoes and when I realized so much, figured a quick feed for one cat, I wouldn't need them.

Poor little Sausage is begging for food, and I go to feed her, and whack, Mask swipes Sausage and good. Patch and Mask were insistent on being fed first, so they had to be fed  yet again before Sausage. Up comes Cinnamon. Well because I was barefoot, I didn't want to go as far as usual and I was feeding them in different which caused a lot of confusion. I turn around and there is Loper, I feed her nearby also.

Before I go upstairs, down comes Fluffy. I sat on the white plastic chair and pet her. She was fine until she saw Loper eating. She crouches in attack mode and I hold onto Fluffy's tail. She's oblivious that I'm holding her tail, but I've heard you shouldn't be pulling a cat by the tail and I reached down to grab her. In a flash she turned and swiped me with a hiss, scratched my arm and ran at Loper. Poor Loper ran behind the tree. That wasn't enough for Fluffy. She ran to the tree and attacked Loper again, then came back and inspected the food Loper had been eating. Inspected it, didn't eat it. Patch came and inspected it too.

I felt bad for Loper, and in my bare feet made my way across the lawn/dirt to feed Loper by the tree. Came back and sat down. Mostly had been trying to get some breakfast from her owners and she came and smelled my cat food. I gave her a bite. She and Fluffy sort of growl and snarl at each other. Mostly was terrified of Trouble, our former cat, but tries to express dominance over Fluffy and the others.

I didn't see Bag today. But yesterday, completely out of character, he attacked Patch for sniffing at his food. I thought he was going to kill Patch and yelled at them both. Bag backed off and went back to his food, which he barely touched.

Later that day, when I went to the beach, Patch greeted me at the foot of the step and I pet her. She was enjoying it so much, when I stood to go, she swiped my ankle -- brat.
