Crisis Avoided

GG came into the bedroom about 3:30 this morning and plopped on my pillow right in front of my face. I made room for the kitty and eventually he had completely taken over my spot. I got up and went on the computer for awhile then tried to go back to sleep to no avail. But lay in bed trying to make up for lost sleep. About the time I was drifting off, David came back and said Fluffy was inside. We were in the bedroom with the door closed and she seemed to do fine.

When I got up to feed the others, I gave Fluffy a sardine, and went downstairs where I was greeted by Patch, Mask, and Bag. Patch lets me pet him now. I fed Bag and black Scrap appeared. I knew he would take everybody else's food if I didn't feed him too, so I put some food out for him and went around the corner and fed the brats.

When I got back upstairs, Fluffy was ready to go out. GG ran out after her. Uh-oh, I didn't want him and Scrap to get into a fight. I followed GG down and sure enough at the bottom level he saw Scrap and hunkered down getting ready to attack. I grabbed GG and took him back upstairs. He didn't protest too much until he realized he was going back into the apartment. I watered him up at the sink and then figured it would be okay to let him down, that Scrap would be done and gone.

I was wrong. At the bottom of the stairs, I put GG on a chair and petted him until some kids came out for school. Scrap went one direction, GG another. Whew.

Later in the afternoon, when I came back from a veggie run, I heard GG on the stairs and figured he wanted to come up with me. Perfect timing. Except it wasn't. Fluffy was in the stairwell blocking his path he wouldn't go past her or let her go back down. She was too scared to go up or down. I picked up GG and carried him past Fluffy. But instead of coming up with me they both scurried down and outside.
