Cat Howls

10May18

Last night we let GG out and figured he would be gone for the night. I already had my pj's on and was settling into a night of TV watching. Well, in between shows I heard some cats yowling, and I thought uh-oh GG's in a fight again.

The night before that, GG had been crying at the door to be let in, and the Russian neighbor who likes cats and speaks English also opened her door. Her inside cat went darting down the stairs, she wasn't too worried because her cat had just had its shots. I noted she was already in her pj's, and after we chatted awhile, she went downstairs in her jammies to find her cat.

Back to last night when I heard the cats yowling, and I'm in my pj's, I figured if she can go out looking for her cat in her pj's which obviously look like pj's, I can go out in my nightie and t-shirt which doesn't look as pj-ish as what she wore. So out I go to make sure GG is okay. I couldn't find where the yowling was coming from. It sounded like maybe across the street and so I figured GG wouldn't have gone that far. I turned to go back home and there was GG following me.

Maybe the cat fight had him nervous, because he followed me home and stayed in all night. Well, most of the night. Around 3am I was roused from a deep sleep by the sound of a cat meowing. I go check on GG thinking he wanted in or out or food or drink. GG was sitting nicely in the living room and had not been meowing. It turned out he did want a drink though. About this time, David got up and checked his emails.

GG will only drink water from the kitchen faucet now. So I had to stay up and wait until he finished so the water didn't run for hours. Then GG wanted out, I opened the door and there was Fluffy who wanted to come in. I was thinking it was too early in the morning for Fluffy to be inside pacing and mewing, so I closed the door on both cats and retrieved some cat food to put in the hall.

When I opened the door, they were still out there in a kitty stand-off. But they weren't hissing or yowling, just sort of staring daring each other to look away first. I put some food out for Fluffy, and GG headed downstairs. I went back to bed.

The time I would say was around 3:30ish, and a few minutes after going to bed I heard some Israeli fighter jets fly overhead...one, two, three.  I hear fighter jets all the time, but never at 3:30 in the morning -- but of course I could be sleeping. Considering the recent events in Syria and Trump pulling out of the Iran deal, I had a feeling. Sure enough, when David came to bed, he told me that rockets had been fired in the Golan and Israel sent some jets over to retaliate.

I lay in bed trying to go back to sleep, but couldn't. Got up about a quarter to five and GG was ready to come back in. He's sitting nicely in the living room.

  1. Wow what i night you had! Such excitement! I am jealous! Cats howls, 3am feeding, fighter jets overhead, what else? I couldn’t go back to sleep either after such a night. I just have big old fat Joey sleeping next to me! Need to post pictures of him.
