How to give a cat a pill
6Apr18
The loving couple are back together. I got a couple of pictures except they are far away and you can't see too well. When I get up close they hear me and sit up so there's no candid shots. Today they were lying together. Yesterday, they were lying together but not touching. Fluffy was on her back with her hind legs spread apart.
The morning feeding went pretty well. Cinnamon demanded a share too, so I gave him some. I'll try and get a picture and you can see why he is aptly named.
This afternoon was time to give GG his first pill. It's a little pink thing and supposed to be designed to be palatable for cats. The vet told us to get GG off the cheap cat food. We went to the pet store and found a brand that is supposed to be for picky cats. Much to our surprise he ate it. It was really a GG, first. His first meal we put in a little with his MikkyD's cat food, followed by 50/50.
When he came in for his afternoon snack, we took away the cat food, ground up the pill and hid it in some human food he likes a lot, maybe even loves. He ate it, no problem. Did you ever read that essay popular in the 90s, How To Give A Cat A Pill? Here's the link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC372253/.
We were thinking giving GG would be something like that, but like I said, no problem, except about 2 minutes later he puked everything up. I mean everything.
Was it the new cat food? Was the pill?
OMG. There's throw up all over the floor.
