Nature can be cruel

This morning I went downstairs and Fluffy met me mid-way. She followed me as I fed Patch and Mask, then followed me upstairs. In the apartment she wandered around and ate a little. I comforted GG who was on the bed and told him he didn't have to be jealous of the fickle feline who can't figure out what she wants.
She managed to eat but couldn't settle down.
It's been raining and it's cold, but she wanted me to keep the door open. She is to the point where she can be in the house with the door closed without panicking, but is unable to sit someplace and make herself at home like GG does. She wants out but won't go out stands in the door so I can't close it, comes back in, can't settle down, wants back out. I close the door and a few seconds later she's crying to be let back in. I understand she doesn't want to go out in the rain. The best move I suppose was to ignore her, and eventually she committed to going outside.
In the afternoon coming home, I'm greeted by the brats and Fluffy who expect to be fed again. GG was out also. Fluffy followed me upstairs, and GG who sort of hates Fluffy came up too. I half expected him to stay down and pout. I got some cat food and lured Fluff back down and fed all the critters.
Haven't seen Bag, Loper or her kitten, or Growler. But here's the really distressing part. As I was cooking dinner I heard a cat meowing in distress. It continued for about five minutes before I couldn't take it any longer. I went down to see what was going on.
It was a little kitten still with his baby fur hiding under a car. He wouldn't come out, and kept crying and crying for his mama. I think he's been abandoned. I couldn't get him out from the car. Another lady came by and left him some food. There was nothing to do but go back upstairs. Two hours later, I still hear him crying. Poor helpless kitten.
