Typical Morning
1Dec17
This morning GG came in around six. It was cold and dark so I wanted to loll about in bed. David fed GG, but he wasn't getting enough attention so he came crying to my room. He jumped up on the bed wanting to be petted, I was still half asleep, so I stuck my hand out from under the cover and he lay on it purring.
I had to get up and feed the others. Hated to disturb GG, but he must have been tired because my movements, which included very carefully slipping my hand out from underneath him, didn't bother him in the least. Usually when he doesn't want to be disturbed, he'll let out a little mew -- leave me alone.
I dressed and trotted downstairs to feed the others. Fluffy greeted me and as usual had to be fed first only to leave it and stick her nose in everybody else's food. Everyone else was there: Bag, Loper and her big kitten, and the brats.
Yesterday afternoon, I did a nice thing. I bought some fresh chicken liver for each of the cats. They were on that. Calico, who is in a different territory by the bus, and not allowed into the colony I feed every morning, saw me coming and demanded a piece too. I gave everyone around a piece. Mask's territory abuts Calico's territory and Mask saw I gave Calico a chicken liver. Well, Mask was not happy about that, but I tried to explain that she got one too, and she finally followed me to her feeding spot but only when Patch appeared.
When I left on the errands Bag and Loper and her big kitten were around, when I came back there was no Bag. I fed Loper and her offspring went upstairs with two pieces left. I gave them to GG. GG turned her nose up at the livers. He likes sardines and cheap cat food that I call Mikky Ds. Later, when I took out the trash, Bag was downstairs so I made him happy and gave him the last of the liver.
It occurred to me this morning when Bag stayed out of arms reach from me, that when I touched him yesterday, that was his first sensation of being touched by a human. It must have been kind of weird, like the first time I touched a snake. He probably still can't believe that my hands that make food magically appear out of a bag don't actually turn him into fairy dust.
