Aaaaaah!

14Dec17

Yesterday after coming home from the dentist around lunch time, Patch and Mask greeted me on the sidewalk. I had already fed them that morning, and told them they needed to come upstairs if they wanted more food.

To my surprise, Patch took me up on the deal. He wanders in a mixture of curious and afraid. Mostly afraid because he didn't stay long.

This morning there was no Fluffy, no Loper, no Growler, and no kitten. Only Bag. I fed him and he allowed three strokes across the back. Then Patch showed up and I went around the corner to feed him, and a few seconds later Mask comes galloping down the sidewalk for breakfast too.

Easy.

Except Patch started following me tail in air like Fluffy usually does. And Patch came right upstairs. I gave him a sardine for his effort. GG, who comes up anywhere between 4 and 6am was sleeping soundly on my pillow. GG usually comes in eats says hello to David and jumps on my pillow. With GG sleeping, there was no jealousy issue with Patch being about. Patch was a little more exploratory this morning, took a quick look around, ate his sardine and left.

This afternoon was not easy. We do our weekend shopping on Thursday because Friday's are really, really busy and everything is closed on Saturday. When we went to the grocery, we were bombarded first by Fluffy, who wound herself around David's legs and she's going to get stepped on. Ouch. Then by the brats. Finally by Calico, the bus stop kitty.

She's a cutie, and knows she can get some food out of me. I gave her a treat and we continued on to the grocery. On the way back we were accosted by the usual suspects. Loper and her kitten were out. I told everyone we had more errands and I would buy them something special.

When we left again, GG wanted to come inside. Safely ensconced in our apartment we headed off. Again accosted by Fluffy who has this thing about feet and tried to settle on David's shoe. Everyone was out. Once outside of brat territory, Calico found me and followed us across the street and ventured into other feral cats' territory. A black cat was ready to intimidate Calico away. The cat was twice the size of Calico but she was ready to take him on. I sort of interfered so there was no cat fight, and Calico did take the hint and return to her own territory.

I bought the guys some chicken liver.  Calico was waiting. I gave her a piece. The brats were waiting, I gave them each a piece. Bag was waiting, I gave him a big piece. There was no one else. Halfway up, I looked out the window and saw Fluffy, went back down and gave her a piece. She took that as an invitation to come upstairs. Well, GG was up eating his piece, except I gave him chicken filet because he doesn't like the liver so much.

GG doesn't like Fluffy, and he especially doesn't like her upstairs. And he also has this jealousy problem. I pick up Fluffy and take her away from GG, so GG can eat in peace. I give Fluff another chicken liver and she doesn't eat it. She wanders around the apartment, and for one cute second she sits on the couch making herself at home. I approached her wanting to pet her and she jumped off the couch. By this time GG had finished eating and was ready to confront Fluffy. They were at a standoff, me between them. I let Fluffy outside and GG wanted to follow. I wouldn't let him leave mad, and let him pout by the door for a bit. Then picked him up and took him to bed and let him lay on my pillow. I lay next to him and petted him until he was able to relax.
