Cat Histories

The feral kitties are behaving for the most part. I've managed to touch Patch a few times. The first time I touched him he screamed like I poured acid on him. And now it's like, okay it doesn't hurt and maybe it might feel good, but don't do it, don't do it.
Patch has to be fed last only because I feed him and his sister around the corner away from the others. Fluffy doesn't like him around and always swats at him in a mean way. His sister is always swatting at him in a playful way.
GG comes upstairs and likes to be petted. GG likes long soft strokes along his back. Doing that calms him down. He also likes long strokes across his belly. The other day I did that, and he got a little erection. He woke up with a start and started licking himself. I've never had a cat who could go for hours being stroked. Most of my cats preferred scratching around the head and neck.
Then Trouble liked his ears pulled. Loved it.
GG and Trouble look so much alike, when Trouble was alive and they were both outside I would often mistake GG for Trouble. Trouble was afraid to be in the hall, and wouldn't go in a box if his life depended on it. Our thoughts about Trouble was he came over from Russia or the Ukraine and was traumatized by the journey. Trouble was afraid of being in the hall and would dart out when he wanted to leave. Zoom, gone. We knew Trouble was not well taken care of and actually abused by his former owners. They fed him well though, and Trouble developed a taste for fresh chicken, fish, lamb, beef, and organ meats. His former owners tried to bring him along when they moved from our building. But Trouble had established his territory at the apartment and stayed behind. At least that's what we think happened. He eventually adopted us.
Now another abandoned cat that looks exactly like Trouble has adopted us. But GG was not abused. When GG is ready to leave he doesn't scurry out of the hall as fast as he can, no he sort of lingers halfway between the door and then finally moves his tail out of the way and sits in the hall, looks at other doors, licks himself. It's like, oh all right, I'll go outside. Ho-hum.
There used to be this older man with a cane who walked around with a caregiver and a silly smile on his face. One time he fell and couldn't get up and his caregiver wasn't around. David and I helped him up, and he seemed okay and hobbled the rest of the way to his building. We haven't seen him around for a long time.
We think GG may have been owned by him or some other old person who lived around here and has died. We suspect the former owner would sit and pet the cat in a slow rhythmic motion for hours. GG appears to never have been teased and seems to have no fear of humans. Mellow by nature, being loved by an old person possibly made him even more mellow. Overall he's a calm cat, and is like, Hey, mon, it's all good.
