Things have gotten pretty routine with GG coming upstairs for breakfast and me going down and feeding the rest. With cats, in particular feral cats, routines don't last.
This morning I was late in going down. David is taking his walk later and when he got back I was still boiling water to make a pitcher of tea. Well, the water hadn't boiled, and I'm very good and getting distracted forgetting about the water on the stove and it boils down to a searing hot pot with tea leaves stuck to the bottom that is impossible to get off. It just made sense to hang around the pot until it boiled. For some reason it was taking forever for the water to boil. Finally.
In the meantime, GG was sleeping on the sofa. I opened the front door and Fluffy walked right in. She didn't walk in like she owned the place, she was still nervous but hunger overcame fear and she started eating the rest of GG's food. I found another bowl for her and came back to find Patch wanting something to eat too.
Fluffy wouldn't let Patch eat upstairs, so I grabbed the bag of cat food and followed him down. Fed the usual suspects, except there was no Mask, even after I called for her. Went back upstairs. Fluffy was still eating but GG felt betrayed and went downstairs.
I went back downstairs to try and apologize to GG and coax him back up. He was growling and ready to attack Black Tail, I supposed taking his anger at me and Fluffy on her. I picked him up and tried to take him upstairs. He didn't want to go, so he jumped out of my arms. I went back upstairs and Fluffy was still eating alternating between her bowl and GG's bowl. When she finished I went with her back downstairs in hopes that with Fluffy gone, GG would come back up. He ignored me.
David reminded me that GG isn't loyal to us, he's been flirting with the people who live beneath us and to not worry about it. Of course, I worry. I worry about everything including Mask wasn't around for breakfast and Calico seems to be shoved out of her normal territory. I worry about the cats more than Trump and Rocket Man starting WWIII.
