New Cat Developments

For the past few days, GG who David has renamed Zombie because he keeps meowing and going after food, has been having breakfast at our place. While he eats and bothers David mostly by laying on the mouse or walking on the keyboard, I go downstairs and feed everybody else. One morning Fluffy followed Zombie all the way up, stepped inside the apartment, freaked and ran back downstairs.

This afternoon, we decided it was time to buy Zombie a litter box because it's like he's looking for one and we don't want any accidents. He's been human socialized and we think he has another home. They don't feed him breakfast, though otherwise he wouldn't be at our place every morning begging for food.

This morning there was no Fluffy, but she was out in the afternoon when we went to fetch the litter box. I decided to get her a kitty brush as well. When we came back, I tried to brush Fluffy, while David went upstairs. She was very skittish but liked the brush until she saw it then scratched at it and jumped away. I sat on the sidewalk so I didn't have to bend over and pet her. She allowed a little bit of petting and a little bit of brushing, then lay on the sidewalk too far away for me to reach her. Patch was lying nearby in the dirt, and Mask still further happily relaxing by a bush.

Well, as uncomfortable as the sidewalk was, I couldn't stay there forever and decided to go upstairs. To my surprise Fluffy followed. She came inside and was real tentative, but ate a few bites of food and went into the kitchen kind of checking everything out. I left the door open so she wouldn't feel trapped. To my shock and amazement, Patch had followed her up. I tried to convince him to eat something, but he wouldn't come inside. Fluffy went back down and Patch followed.

I never thought Patch would come up here, but if he starts coming up Mask is soon to follow.
