Something Amazing Happened

24July17

Yesterday morning the cats were starving including Loudmouth. My husband saw Fluffy and Bag holding paws, too bad he didn’t have a camera. He was accosted by everyone leaving and coming back from his walk. He has never fed them, but the cats have seen us together and so they still associate him with feeding.
This morning the cats weren’t as hungry. Looking out the upper window I saw Fluffy, Loudmouth, and Bag all lying about 1.5 meters from each other. Since they can no longer hear my clumping (changed shoes) down the stairs, I told them hello. They greeted me at the entrance. Well, Loudmouth greeted instantly with a loud meow which continued until I fed him first. Since he is the only one who will allow me to pet him, I make it a point to rub his forehead so the other cats can see.
Then I went over by the tree to feed Fluffy and Bag. Yesterday Fluffy ate first, today Bag. It’s like they are taking turns going first. I give everybody two handfuls of dry cat food, which isn’t that much because my hands are rather small. At any rate, after one handful Bag is munching away and I reached out and patted his head. He was startled but not totally freaked. I was amazed, because I thought Bag would be the last cat ever to let me touch him.
Even though Loudmouth insists on eating first, Bag seems like the leader of the group. Of course, the brats were chomping at the bit to be fed too. I went around the corner so they could eat on their own territory. It is interesting that they can come over to Fluffy and Bag’s territory, but they can’t eat there.
