Petting feral cats is difficult to say the least
5Aug17
Two days in a row, Bag hasn’t been around for morning feedings. Loudmouth who looks a lot like Bag and our former kitty is taking up the slack. That being the case, I can tell Fluffy’s love of life is Bag and Loudmouth is cheap seconds. Unlike Bag who will make sure the bitches in his harem are properly fed, Loudmouth eats first and hisses at anyone who gets too close.
Went over by the tree to feed Ms Fluffy and turned to find a hungry Mask coming up with Patch not far behind. For some reason Mask can’t resist the urge to swipe at her big brother. Fed the brats and noticed they were completely out of water. Normally I fill the water bowls with the backyard hose, but the water had been completely shut off. Had to take their bowl and trudge upstairs to the fourth floor to my apartment and fill the bowl, found another disposable plastic bowl and filled it too, for good measure. Boy, were those guys thirsty.
The morning was coolish, so I stayed down and petted Loudmouth, the only one who will let me touch him. I managed to get a head pat on Fluffy yesterday and today. She hasn’t freaked out as much but still jumps away. So I made a point of petting Loudmouth and he was loving it. Rubbing against my leg tail pointed up. I went to stop and he made me continue. Fluffy’s watching all this, and she approached only to have Loudmouth hiss at her. He doesn’t share his food and he’s not sharing any petting.
I have a feeling Fluffy will eventually come around.
