I can't figure these guys out

I had a theory about Bag hiding, letting Loudmouth hang around Fluffy, and acting real squirrelly around me. See, as best as I can tell Bag has recently been sporting a clipped ear meaning he had his manhood taken away. This procedure done on young kittens doesn’t affect them too much, however, on older toms can really mess up their kitty psyche. That’s how Bag was behaving, like he was embarrassed and ashamed, and certainly could never trust me – even though I didn’t have anything to do with it.
However my theory appears to be wrong. This morning, Fluffy and Bag were lying together in the backyard and he seemed back to normal. I can always tell Fluffy feels more secure when she has her man around. There was no Loudmouth. I suspect Loudmouth has another feeder who possibly goes on vaca – but when his main feeder is back he has no need to come and beg food from me. But like I said, I can’t figure these guys out.
Fluffy greeted me and I managed one light stroke across her head. I’ve been petting Loudmouth so the cats could learn nothing bad happens when I touch them. So they could see Loudmouth actually likes to be petted. Now when I touch Fluffy she jumps away and doesn’t panic as much, but her eyes still don’t understand and she still doesn’t trust.
Bag and I had been making inroads, but he now keeps a greater distance.
The brats came up demanding their feeding. They would be fun house cats. They’d insist on eating any meat, chicken, or fish you happened to be cooking. If you didn’t give it to them, they’d figure out a way to get it themselves. They’d chase each other all through the house, knocking over stuff. They’d hide under beds waiting to attack an unsuspecting foot walking by. They’d get into cabinets and see what’s inside of boxes strewing the contents (like cereal) all over the floor, then act all innocent like they didn’t cause that mess.
Fluffy and Bag would be almost ideal house cats. Mellow, Fluffy would be a lap cat and curl up with you on the couch while watching TV. Even tame, Bag would tend to keep his distance. He would be like a watch cat – there’d be no mice or roaches in his house. When guests came over, he would probably hide and observe. Afterwards, he would inspect every place the guest went inside the house, expressing his disapproval.
