A New House Cat?

27Sept17

My husband came back from his early morning walk and told me his dream. He dreamed the Gentle Giant (GG, formerly Loudmouth) and Fluffy had followed him upstairs and came into the apartment. Remembered dreams have a way of coming true.

Ever since March, Fluffy has been a regular for daily morning feedings. She hadn't missed a day until recently. Yesterday she reappeared, this morning no Fluffy. I fed the other usual suspects. And Mama Loper scratched my hand -- literally went after the hand that feeds her. I was bleeding pretty good. I went back upstairs and took care of my hand.

I needed to go to purchase Dead Sea products. I buy them down in Hadar because they're cheaper than in the mall, and of course more handy than trekking all the way down to the disappearing Dead Sea. Our favorite resort, Ein Gedi has closed off its beach because of sinkholes.

So Mask and Patch have a system. Mask lies in wait along their sidewalk close to the street. Patch lies in wait close to the apartment. When I leave the apartment, Patch is ready to accost. And whenever I come home, even when I try and sneak past the sleeping Mask, she raises her head, recognizes me and runs in front demanding food. Patch joins forces and insists on a feeding. Out of nowhere, GG appears and starts the meowing game. This happens every time, including today.

I told them to hold their horses and I'd be right back and clomp up to the top story unload my packages and get some cat food. I left the door open while I put my stuff in the bedroom. As I went back for the cat food, much to my surprise GG was on the top floor looking in our apartment. David saw and invited the cat in. While GG looked around, still meowing, David said, "Aha my dream came true, except that Fluffy had come up too. It was bound to happen, you know."

We decided it was probably better to continue to feed GG outside and I coaxed him back down the stairs while he rubbed against my ankles. I watched my steps very carefully, the last thing I need is to trip over the cat and tumble head over heels down the stairs.

Fed GG, the brats, and Loper. We need to make a trip to the store, but I don't want to go and get accosted by cats, yet again, who claim to be starving but look surprisingly well-fed to me.
