I have five regular feral cats that I feed every morning. Well, Bag and Loudmouth are sort of semi-regular. This morning came down and only Fluffy was around. Tried to pet her, got one long stroke and she quickly moved out of arms reach. Took her to her feeding spot under the tree and the Interloper showed up from the bushes. At the same time Loudmouth appeared from the other direction.
Loudmouth insists on being fed first. Before he could start eating Fluffy’s food, I had him follow me to his spot and gave him some food. By this time the brats appeared. I went back to the tree to feed the interloper. She and Fluffy stood face to face sort of threatening. But once they realized both would be fed, they concentrated on eating.
Followed the brats around the corner to their feeding place. Mask never gets tired of attacking her brother. All cats fed, I surveyed the munching babies and wondered if Interloper is going to become a regular. A little black and white kitten was with Interloper trying to get a bite in edgewise. Oh dear, if Interloper and her baby become regulars, that will be 7 cats. The next thing I know we’ll be feeding 20…30…50…100 cats. Oh well, I can be an old cat lady without the smell.
